Painting hearts on snow. Valentine's Day art activity for toddlers

PAINTING HEARTS ON SNOW Valentine's Day art activity for toddlers It's a great time to experimenting with mittens and show why we use them. I love how that child went to get her hat for the activity.  Supplies:  - Sensory table or trays or large and shallow containers - Snow - Heart shape cookie cutters - Watercolor or food coloring in water - Small cups - Paint brushes - Smocks - Mittens (optional)  - Rags for clean up I don't clean up by myself while the kids are running because the floor is wet and slippery.  I give them two rags and demonstrate how to wipe with our feet.

Aim the heart, gross motor activity for toddlers for Valentine's Day

Aim the heart Gross motor activity for toddlers for Valentine's Day  Supplies: - big piece of cardboard (I cut it from a box)                    - big strong scissors Draw a big heart in the middle of the cardboard.   Cut it out and hang it somewhere.  I have a clothesline in my classroom to dry art projects so that's where I hung them (I made 2 that I kept from last year so one thing less to do this year).   I give a piece of paper to every child and show them how to crumple it to make a ball (it's a good fine motor skill). Then we aim the heart, even my youngest (1 year old) worked very hard at it.  I love games with paper balls they are so much fun and safe.
